Foot – Canada: Mikael Cantave offers victory to his team

By Christian Bendy Calixte

Cavalry FC recorded a victory on the wire yesterday Friday at the start of the new day of the Canadian Premier League against Forge FC (2-1) thanks to a goal in the last moments of Mikael Cantave.

Entered during the game (68th) while his team was leading (1-0) following Joe Mason’s goal from the start of the match (7th), the 25-year-old midfielder came as a savior in the last minute regulation time (89th) to offer this precious victory to his team (2-1) against the leader of the championship who had managed to equalize a few minutes earlier by Jordan Hamilton (82nd, 1-1).

Playing at Forge FC, Haitian defender Garven-Michée Metusala could do nothing to avoid this setback for his club, particularly he was beaten by Mikael Cantave on the winning goal after a diversion from José Escalante which surprised Metusala and his friends in defense. This is the first goal of the Haitian midfielder since his return to Canada last July.

Through this important victory Calvary FC sticks to Forge FC in the classification of the national championship of the Canadian first division. Only one point separates them, 35 units for Forges FC against 34 for Cavalry FC.
