Last month, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg teased mixed reality headsets. Today a famous leaker posted a full leak of what appear to be the specs of the upcoming Meta Quest Pro, codenamed Project Cambria. The actual release of the device is scheduled for the month of October.

  • Meta could introduce the Quest Pro mixed reality headset soon
  • The Meta Quest Pro would feature high-resolution, counter-rotating displays
  • The complete kit would cost around 1500€ with the controllers and the charging base

Meta Quest Pro: The technical characteristics

Along with several CAD renders that VR enthusiast Brad Lynch shared, most of the specs of Meta’s Quest Pro mixed reality headset were also revealed. The rumor that it would be powered by a new Snapdragon XR2 5G SoC has been confirmed. The SoC would be associated with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of onboard storage. It would integrate up to ten sensors, including an infrared depth projector.

In terms of differences, the current Quest 2 will lag significantly behind the Quest Pro in screen quality as well. Each panel of the new headset will feature a 2160 x 2160 QLED display with a maximum resolution of 1800×1920. Meta will also use custom pancake lenses and a 21° counter-rotation mechanism to improve field of view when mixing augmented and virtual reality. Additionally, the Quest Pro will also feature an upgraded spatial audio system, Wi-Fi 6E, and a 5000mAh battery.

The price and features of the Quest Pro controller

The helmet will not be the only one to benefit from notable improvements. The Meta Quest Pro controller should also be equipped with a Snapdragon SoC and include up to three infrared cameras, a pressure sensor and an HD haptic system. According to the leak, the manufacturer could possibly offer the controller and the charging dock in a separate package for around 300€.

Regarding the price of the Meta Quest Pro, the complete kit would cost around 1500€ and would include the controllers and the charging base. It is not yet known if Meta will sell a kit just for the helmet. The Meta Quest Pro could be presented as early as next month.

Conversely, Meta has confirmed that it will stop selling the 64GB storage variant of the Quest 2 from August. This will be replaced by the 128GB version, but will cost €400, which is €100 more than the original base model.
